Here’s the answer:
Robert … You are correct – Venus Flytrap as a protected species cannot be harvested in the wild, but it can be cultivated for medicinal and ornamental uses.
Venus flytraps are sold widely in the U.S. in grocery stores, for example, as a novelty item, because they eat insects. Our Venus Flytrap is grown in licensed greenhouses in North Carolina, the plant’s natural habitat.
As herbalists, we would never, ever contribute to the eradication of a species. Quite the contrary, we buy only from growers and suppliers who support sustainable wildcrafting and cultivation practices – and can document it.
